The by now experienced investigator, Annie Raymond, is working on a mundane domestic case – so she thinks. It turns out her quarry’s suspicious behaviour might be explained by something other than an extra-marital affair. He’s the prime suspect in a murder enquiry.
Annie finds herself bang in the middle of Detective Superintendent Martyn Webber’s case and he is not best pleased. He has scant respect for her profession and will come down on her like a ton of bricks if she doesn’t tread very carefully.
When the death of a chance witness turns the investigation on its head, Webber and Raymond dance warily around each other, oblivious of schoolgirl Olivia Lamb who stumbles on the evidence they have both been seeking.
